I think the creative element is so crucial to being a good Bartender, being able to bring a pleasing element into the visual aspects of the bar. Ambiance and view are too big keys on becoming a great bar as opposed to a dive.

Brandy - Cognac - Armagnac

It’s hard for me to understand how the Japanese cocktail has slid into obscurity. While you might find it listed in some of the modern cocktail books, you’ll be hard pressed to find one that uses the original recipe from Jerry Thomas’ “Bar Tenders Guide” published in 1887. Properly made this drink has the sweet almond flavor of the orgeat balanced against the brandy and the bitters to present a very enticing drink.

2oz Brandy
1/2oz. Orgeat Cordial syrup (or almond syrup)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Rimmed glass w/Lemon Twist for garnish

Cool recipe, I’d like to try it, good information, but has this guy been drinking? Serisously slow video, I like things a lot more high pace as a general rule. And ice first, always ice first… Why splash and waste? Didn’t make any sense to me. Stiring over shaking did make sense as this would be a higher class recipe and you can afford a slower more detail orientated service. However, too much attention to non detail here. I would say… blah blah blah. Oh wait you already know everything you need to, to make this drink.

This is just an amazing video. Nature has so many more twists and turns than t.v. shows these days!

Now this looks like a tasty drink! I love how he rims the glass on the outside and gets his pour all the way to the top! What a pro! witty, funny, entertaining and professional all in one.

I know I’ll be stopping off at StoryBridge.tv some more to see all the videos I can get a hold of.  Keep up the good work.

How To Land A Bartending Job With No Experience

Thought it was somewhat inspirational and rather useful. The key point that I got out of it was the statement of be a busboy but keep putting your resume out their for bartending. It puts a new spin on all the negativity I hear about trying to become a bartender from the kitchen. So, when I move to my new city I’ll be trying that one out to see how affective it is on a drop in approach.

This technology is along the lines of Windows Surface which I’ve discussed in the past, but this technology is readily available and much cheaper. The software to run it is free to download so all you need is the hardware. A Wii remote, they cost about $40 (I just looked on Newegg.com $39.99 plus shipping, haven’t tried amazon or ebay yet) an infrared source as discussed in this video, bluetooth communication which most computers have these days, if not it’s cheap to add (their are usb bluetooth devices… plug and play running about $35 and up).

There is another video of interest at YouTube Here that discusses an Interactive Whiteboard using a projector or LCD monitor. Is it time to go camping yet?

In my recent Stumblings I’ve run across a fairly fun little site. I guess you could call it social predicting

My schedule has gotten very chaotic, I never made it back to Vegas to bartend, but I am currently in Boise area working on a lot of exciting new programs. I found a group that focuses on getting people financially free in 3 to 5 years through real estate investing. So I’ve been working on a lot of websites and have a lot more to do. My goal for Gadgotchy right now is to have at least 2 posts a month. I know it’s nothing compared to what I used to do, but I’m hoping to accomplish 2 things:

1. To put out better, more meaningful content.
2. I want to continue to blog and not quit all together, with the hopes of having a better schedule in the near future.

So bare with me as things expand and grow in a couple different arenas. And I’ll be changing the title of this blog soon too… I’m hoping to bring in the focus of Real Estate tools on the Internet, and finding ways to help people learn how to be financially free. Why? Because I love helping people, I like to see people prosper and grow, I like to see people succeed. I’ve been given tools as gifts and I see fit to share tools as gifts. In a better world that’s how it should work…

So look for new posts come early March.
